Project Overview
Quantum Builders was selected by Advanced Healthcare Facilities Group to implement comprehensive MEP solutions for a new specialized hospital facility in Jeddah. This critical healthcare project required the highest standards of engineering precision to support advanced medical services, surgical procedures, and patient care in a 24/7 operational environment.
Scope of Work
- Specialized HVAC systems for operating theaters, ICUs, and isolation rooms
- Medical gas pipeline systems (oxygen, vacuum, medical air, nitrogen)
- Electrical systems with redundant backup power for critical care areas
- Fire protection and life safety systems meeting healthcare standards
- Plumbing and sanitary systems for healthcare facilities
- Building management system (BMS) with healthcare-specific monitoring
- Nurse call systems and healthcare communication infrastructure
Technical Specifications
The project featured specialized HVAC systems designed to maintain precise environmental conditions in critical healthcare areas. Operating theaters were equipped with laminar airflow systems providing ISO Class 5 cleanroom conditions, while isolation rooms featured negative pressure ventilation to prevent cross-contamination. ICU areas utilized advanced air filtration and humidity control systems to support patient recovery.
Medical gas systems were implemented with redundant pipelines, automatic changeover manifolds, and comprehensive alarm monitoring to ensure uninterrupted supply for life-support equipment. Electrical systems featured N+1 redundancy with automatic transfer switches, UPS systems, and backup generators capable of supporting the entire facility's critical loads for extended periods.
Project Challenges & Solutions
The primary challenge involved meeting stringent healthcare regulations while coordinating multiple specialized systems within tight construction timelines. Our team implemented rigorous quality control procedures, conducted extensive pre-commissioning testing, and utilized BIM (Building Information Modeling) coordination to prevent clashes between complex MEP systems. Special attention was given to infection control measures during installation to maintain sterile conditions in healthcare areas.
Quality Assurance
All installations underwent comprehensive testing and validation procedures in compliance with Saudi Ministry of Health standards, Joint Commission International (JCI) requirements, and international healthcare best practices. The project achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management and included extensive training for hospital facility management teams on system operation, maintenance, and emergency procedures.
